Musical Stories by Matea Leko started out as a passion project during the difficult lockdown months that swept the globe in 2020. Today, over 2 million viewers tune into my YouTube channel to listen to the Musical Stories I record and upload every month.
And as the world moves forward into a new reality, my mission is to continue bringing beautiful musical stories to even more listeners. Which is what you’ll find me doing from my home studio in the picturesque island of Cyprus, in the Eastern Mediterranean. It is my hope that through these stories, listeners will find an escape from the crazy world we live in. Because even if venues are closed, musicians kept away from crowded auditoriums and audiences deprived of live performances, nothing can supress the powerful force of music. So, join me in keeping the music alive, as we nurture our souls through digital performances. Until we meet again in concert halls, auditoriums and arenas around the world.

But these Musical Stories are not just about beautiful music. They are also a way for me to fulfil my passion for supporting and promoting other great musicians. So far as part of this project, I have hosted star violinist Yury Revich, with his Stradivari in Rachmaninov video. As well as a fantastic violist, Professor Yuval Gotlibovich, with Le Grand Tango. Greek pop icon and up-and-coming New York rock star Marlain Angelides, also collaborated through a delicate combination of Schubert’s ‘Fantasia in F minor’ and Aerosmith’s rock ballad ‘Dream on’. Furthermore, I am forever grateful to the team at the beautiful Δημοτικό Θέατρο Λευκωσίας / Nicosia Municipal Theatre, who allowed me to use their space to record videos during lockdown. I chose this location in the hopes it would provide a taste of that theatrical atmosphere we were all craving. Whether Argentinian tango from glamourous Hollywood, or classical tomes from German Baroque castles, musical food for soul is available anytime, anywhere.
